So, those of you who read my previous post know about the little kindergartener who has fallen in love with me. Here is what happened today:
During lunch duty, he wandered in followed by the principal. The little boy runs to me and latches onto my leg. The principal informs me that he got here late and needs to eat lunch. So I sit with him while he eats and he was doing the normal 5 year old things; playing with his fork, not wanting to eat his salad or beans, making a mess and having a good time. During the middle of lunch, he turns to me, "Ms. Amber, is this a date?" I chuckle, "no sweetheart, I am here with you while you eat lunch." He looks down at his tray, then back up at me "Can we go on a date?" I told him no and talked him into eating his pineapple. Afterwards, I walked him to class and here is what he said to me verbatum, "Ms. Amber, I had a really great time today. I love you and someday you will love me, too. Then we can get married and move into my room?" I got down on his level and looked him in the eye and said, "Sweetheart, I am an adult and you are a child. When you become and adult, you will find someone to love and who loves you back like adults are supposed to. I love you like a teacher is supposed to love a child--you know, caring about your well-being, wanting to hear what you learned and teaching you what I can so you can become not only intelligent but also a good person." With that I stood up and we went to his classroom in silence. Before he went into his class, he said "So Mr. Amber still in the picture, huh?" I laughed and said, "Yes, Mr. Amber is still in the picture". Then he hung his head and walked into his classroom.
I am an elementary school librarian..lots of fun. I love being with the children, they always brighten my day. Well, the good ones. There is this one little boy who is probably the most misbehaved child I have EVER met. On the bright side, he always does what Ms. Amber says. This is the little chap who has asked me to marry him on two seperate occassions. "Ms. Amber, will you marry me? I have my own room, race car bed and everything.." . Anyawy, he walks up today and puts his hands on my stomach...not a big deal, I just take his hands in mine and step back to establish personal space. We talk about library for a second and then he asks "Ms. Amber..when I get older, can I touch your chest?" And before I can react, he reaches up and touches my boobs! I took his hands in mine and stepped way back. I said "Now, you know that is a bad place to touch, that is a personal place and not a place you should touch ms. Amber." 'Will Mr. Amber be mad?" I laughed inside myself because he called my nonexistant imaginary husband "Mr. Amber". "Yes, Mr. Amber will be mad." With that he was content and stood in line until his teacher took him out.
